Tommy Dreamer believes "every man has a rightful stake" after recent WWE title segment
Tommy Dreamer has worked in the wrestling industry long enough to know a thing or two about WWE. The veteran spoke about a recent top title segment that made waves for how well it was constructed.
WWE NXT crowned "All Ego" Ethan Page as the new top champion at Heatwave. He recently joined WWE, and it was surprising to see him win the title that Trick Williams previously held.
The latest edition of NXT saw Joe Hendry appear on the brand without anyone saying his name. He wanted a shot at the NXT Title. He was blindsided by Wes Lee, who also demanded a shot. In the end, Pete Dunne entered the scene to make matters more interesting.
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, Tommy Dreamer broke down the segment that made NXT enjoyable. He praised Joe Hendry for his work and added that Ethan Page and Wes Lee did equally well at elevating the title scene.
"I thought Joe did great," Dreamer said. "I thought it was a much better version of Ethan Page because I think he's finding his groove. And then shock value of the Wes Lee out of nowhere superkick. I enjoy all that because you're like, 'Wait. Wes is in a feud with the Rascalz.' We heard from Wes later, but out of nowhere, you're like, 'Hmmm. Where are they going?' And then they told you later where they are going and it's going to be a three-way because every man has a rightful stake to the claim of why they want to face the champion." [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
Dreamer continued that Hendry and Page were the standout stars in the segment. Tommy Dreamer noted that the TNA star was getting “amazing” reactions at the Performance Center, while Ethan Page was a “great promo guy.”
A Triple Threat Match will determine who will face Ethan Page for the NXT Title. Hendry, Lee, and Dunne will all make great challengers for the top title.
Tommy Dreamer thinks a WWE main roster star shouldn’t have lost in NXT
Many big names aren’t getting the right push in WWE. Tommy Dream believes Otis is one of the men with WWE fans behind him. However, the company isn’t treating him right.
On Busted Open Radio, Dreamer noted that the loss to Oba Femi at NXT did Otis no good and only helped elevate the Nigerian star. Instead, WWE should give The Dozer some big opportunities.
"I love Otis! The fans love Otis. He is getting these amazing reactions. When we talk about the 'It' factor, people just relate to him in some weird way. He is so entertaining. And he goes out; he answers the challenge to Oba Femi—a good match—but he takes another L. So I'm like, 'Why don't they see it in this guy?' He was at one point the hottest star. He has everything in my opinion of somebody I could push to the moon," he said.
Otis, Akira Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri have parted ways with Chad Gable and appeared on NXT a few times recently. However, the group seems aimless even though WWE fans are invested in their storylines.
