Top star loses to Sami Zayn for the 3rd time in 81 days after SmackDown goes off the air

Sami Zayn has been on an incredible run in 2024, especially since winning the Intercontinental Title. In the post-SmackDown dark match, Sami would retain his Intercontinental Championship in a singles match against a top star for the third time in 81 days.

Sami's run as Intercontinental Champion has been widely acclaimed by fans and critics alike. He has been the definition of a fighting champion, defending his title often. It's almost been forgotten that he ended the record-breaking 666-day reign of Gunther as Intercontinental Champion at WrestleMania 40.

In the post-SmackDown dark match, Sami Zayn would go on to defeat Chad Gable in a singles match for the third time in 81 days. Their first match was on April 15 on RAW, a few days after WrestleMania.

Sami went on to state in his promo that despite being from Montreal, Toronto crowds have always made him feel like a hometown crowd.

Sami Zayn also lost to Chad Gable in one of their recent meetings on RAW and the Intercontinental Championship rivalry also briefly involved 'Big' Bronson Reed.

Ahead of Sami is one of his toughest challenges to date, the dominant Bron Breakker. The star has been on a rampage on RAW.

By beating Bron Breakker, Sami can earn a reputation for being a giant killer. It remains to be seen how things will pan out for the star.
