Top star's backstage appearance during WWE Money in the Bank confirmed
WWE held the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event on Saturday at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. A top star from a different promotion was confirmed to be backstage at the big event. The name who was spotted is TNA star Josh Alexander.
Before the start of the PLE, several names were reportedly backstage, including John Cena, CM Punk, and Paul Heyman. The Cenation Leader came out to announce his retirement from wrestling next year. He said next year's Show of Shows will be his final WrestleMania.
Punk interfered during Drew McIntyre's Money in the Bank cash-in, costing him the World Heavyweight Championship. As for Heyman, he did not appear during the six-man tag team main event between The Bloodline and the trio of Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton.
Another top star backstage was TNA Wrestling's Josh Alexander. The Ontario native, two-time Impact World Champion, and his family were featured in Naomi's post on her official X account.
"So good to see your faces I've missed y'all so much. Wrestling fam for life.💚 @Walking_Weapon @JadeChung11 #wwetoronto," Naomi wrote.
Naomi and Josh Alexander worked together for some time in Impact Wrestling during her time away from WWE. She spent around nine months with the promotion before returning at this year's Royal Rumble.
Josh Alexander teased a potential appearance on WWE NXT
One of the biggest things that happened in the past couple of months was the collaboration between NXT and TNA Wrestling. It started with Jordynne Grace challenging Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women's Championship at Battleground last month.
Other TNA stars, such as Ash by Elegance, Frankie Kazarian, and Joe Hendry, also made surprise appearances in NXT. Several stars returned the favor, like Tatum Paxley and Charlie Dempsey. Izzi Dame and Myles Borne also appeared at a recent TNA taping.
Josh Alexander was one of several top TNA stars who teased the possibility of crossing over to NXT. Taking to X/Twitter at the end of May, he wrote:
"Just saying… If this swings both ways the gatekeeper of TNA will be waiting."
With the success of the collaboration between the two promotions, it might not be surprising to see more NXT stars in TNA and vice versa.
