Top WWE name from Damage CTRL shares cryptic message amid hiatus

Damage CTRL had a rough start on WWE RAW as two notable names were out with injuries and Kairi Sane was off television after taking a brutal bump. Recently, former four-time tag team champion, Dakota Kai, shared a cryptic message teasing an in-ring return.

After The Biggest Party of the Summer in Ohio, Dakota Kai was written off television by Pure Fusion Collective when the trio attacked her in a backstage segment. Later, it was revealed the assault was staged due to Kai's existing knee injury, which could keep her out for weeks.

Today, the former two-time NXT and WWE Women's Tag Team Champion shared a few cryptic stories on Instagram and teased an in-ring return. The 36-year-old star hasn't competed in a while and the timetable for her return is seemingly around the corner as she pieced together three words separately, with a word in each story. Together they read:

"See You Soon."

Dakota Kai hasn't held gold in WWE since 2023

A few years ago, Dakota Kai signed with WWE and arrived on the former black and gold brand. After failing on different occasions, she turned heel and aligned with Raquel Rodriguez on the developmental brand. The two became the inaugural NXT Women's Tag Team Champions.

Unfortunately, Dakota Kai was released under the old regime. Later, Triple H rehired the 36-year-old star and gave her a fresh start on WWE's main roster alongside Bayley and IYO SKY as they created Damage CTRL.

The faction became one of the most popular female groups in the company's history in the coming months. In 2022 and 2023, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY were the Women's Tag Team Champions on the main roster. Since then she hasn't held any gold in the promotion.

In May 2023, Kai tore her ACL in a Tag Team Match on Friday Night SmackDown and spent months away from in-ring competition. Later, she returned and turned on Bayley, as Damage CTRL booted out The Role Model from the group.
