Top WWE name "never wanted to go" anywhere else; reveals important reason why he went to AEW
A top WWE veteran has revealed that he never wanted to work anywhere else. Diamond Dallas Page recently opened up about why he chose to work for Tony Khan's All Elite Wrestling in what was a brief run. DDP currently works for WWE under the Triple H regime, under a Legends deal.
DDP had a brief stint in AEW back in 2019-2020. He interacted with several top names during the run, including Cody Rhodes, MJF, and Chris Jericho.
In a new interview with Bleacher Report, DDP stated that he went to AEW because he wanted to help Cody Rhodes. Check out his full comment below:
"I'm proud to be working with them again. I never wanted to go anywhere the first time, but I had to help the kid whose father helped me. Without Dusty Rhodes there is no Diamond Dallas Page. I had to help that young man who was on his own vision quest. He didn't ask for my help, I just came to him and said, 'Hey, let us start filming you. Let's start doing stuff. Costs you nothing. Let us just start documenting your journey here.' And where did it end up? Right back in the WWE, bigger than ever, on the cover of 2K24. You can't make this stuff up." [H/T B/R]
WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes received big help from DDP on AEW TV in 2019
DDP was involved in a bunch of angles on AEW TV during his short run in the promotion. On October 23, 2019, the WCW veteran made his big return to TNT in almost two decades. That night, he aided Cody Rhodes in taking out Chris Jericho and The Inner Circle.
DDP wrestled a single match during his AEW run. On January 15, 2020, The Butcher & The Blade teamed up with MJF, and the trio defeated DDP, Dustin Rhodes, and QT Marshall.
