Top WWE star back in The Bloodline saga is a "big step backwards," says Kevin Owens
WWE Superstar Kevin Owens is set for a huge match at the upcoming Saturday Night's Main Event. In the leadup to the show, the former Universal Champion commented on Sami Zayn's involvement in the OG Bloodline.
The Master Strategist reunited with The Usos and Roman Reigns on the November 8, 2024, episode of Friday Night SmackDown. In a separate storyline, Zayn's close friend, KO, has been embroiled in a feud with Cody Rhodes stemming from the latter's unexpected alliance with Reigns at Bad Blood.
Ahead of his Undisputed WWE Championship match against The American Nightmare at SNME, Kevin Owens sat down with Mail Sport for an interview. During the conversation, The Prizefighter was asked about Sami Zayn's re-entry into the long-running Anoa'i family saga.
KO criticized the former Intercontinental Champion's decision to rejoin the OG Bloodline, considering it a setback for his career.
"I think it is a big step backwards for him [Sami Zayn], but if that is what he wants to do, that’s his problem," Owens said. [H/T: Daily Mail]
WWE star Kevin Owens praises Sami Zayn regardless of his ties with The Bloodline
At WrestleMania 39, The Prizefighter and The Master Strategist captured the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship from The Usos. However, the duo dropped the tag titles to Damian Priest and Finn Balor at Payback 2023.
In a WWE Retrospective video on YouTube, Kevin Owens described Sami Zayn as more like a brother than a friend, emphasizing how their unmatched in-ring chemistry developed over their two-decade-long friendship.
"Well, me and Sami [Zayn] have known each other since 2002. And, I really say this all the time: he's really more like a brother than a friend (...) He really is like a brother. And that extended itself to the ring. The chemistry we have in there, for me, is unmatched with him. You can be two great wrestlers, but sometimes there's no chemistry. I've had that with great wrestlers where we have no chemistry; this match sucked. I don't think Sami Zayn's ever had that with anyone because he's the best," he said.

It remains to be seen if KO can potentially defeat Cody Rhodes this Saturday to become a two-time world champion in the Stamford-based promotion.
