Top WWE star discloses grand plans for next world title win
WWE WrestleMania attracts wrestling fans, unlike any other event. Hence, it is the dream of every athlete on the roster to win a major championship on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Unfortunately for Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman, their title victories at WrestleMania 36 took place in the absence of fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Notably, The Scottish Warrior defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship at The Show of Shows in 2020. Additionally, The Monster Among Men triumphed over Goldberg to claim the Universal Title. While McIntyre claimed a World Title in front of fans at this year's Showcase of The Immortals, Strowman has yet to experience a similar moment.
During a recent episode of the Busted Open podcast, the RAW Superstar recalled his Universal Title victory at WrestleMania 36 in the absence of fans and expressed his desire to win another world title in front of a packed stadium.
"So many people get to finish their story. Drew McIntyre talked about winning this championship in front of nobody, but how he wanted to do it in front of people. I won my singles Universal Championship in front of nobody. I sure would like to do it in front of 100,000 people," he said. [H/T: Wrestling INC]
Braun Strowman was released by WWE in June 2021. However, The Monster Among Men made a return in September 2022. Despite his size and agility, the former Universal Champion has not been booked in main-event feuds since his comeback.
The 40-year-old has also suffered from injuries in recent years. Apart from a brief return during the August 25, 2023, episode of SmackDown, Strowman sat on the bench between May 2023 and April 2024 owing to his neck injury and surgery requirement. He eventually made a full-time return on Night Two of the 2024 WWE Draft.
The veteran wrestler opened up about his time away from in-ring duties and revealed that the prolonged absence made him step back and appreciate all the hard work he had done during his career.
"After taking that vacation that I took, and then out with my neck injury and stuff like that, it gave me a whole different perspective of how special this is and how quickly it can be over. It made me take a step back and appreciate all the hard work," Strowman added. [H/T: Wrestling INC]
Braun Strowman wants the World Heavyweight Championship on WWE RAW
The World Heavyweight Championship is currently held by Gunther, who is no stranger to Braun Strowman. The Monster Among Men has previously locked horns with The Ring General for the Intercontinental Title.
During an appearance on The Ringer Wrestling Show ahead of SummerSlam 2024, Strowman said that he was keenly interested in the World Heavyweight Title match between Damian Priest and Gunther, as he wanted to get his hands on the prized title in the coming days.
"I'm watching this match [Damian Priest vs. Gunther] because the monster is lurking in the shadows, and it's about time I got my hands on some gold again. It's been way too long," Strowman said.
The Ring General eventually defeated The Archer of Infamy at The Biggest Party of The Summer to become the World Heavyweight Champion. Later on RAW, Randy Orton surprised WWE fans when he appeared on the flagship show and challenged Gunther for the title match at Bash in Berlin. The duo will lock horns in Berlin later this month.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Strowman gets involved in the title picture in the coming months.
