Top WWE Superstar shares unfiltered thoughts on The Wyatt Sicks

The Wyatt Sicks has managed to spark massive intrigue among a large section of the WWE Universe thanks largely to the legacy Bray Wyatt left before his tragic passing. Triple H and his creative team's efforts to revive the late star's vision is commendable. This is predominantly the reason Gunther believes the new horror-themed faction could work. But nevertheless, he is not enthused.

In an interview with Gorilla Position, the Austrian wrestler touched upon The Wyatt Sicks. He is gearing up for a World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam against Damian Priest.

The 36-year-old WWE star revealed that horror is not a genre that interests him. He clarified that it applies to any form of art, including movies. However, The Ring General addressed the fact that fans are buying into the fresh narrative:

"First of all, everything, it’s not just wrestling, it’s also movies, like the genre, everything that has to do with spooky stuff or ghosts, or supernatural, that’s not my taste at all. I’m more documentary guy, I love history, and I like movies about a topic or happenings that really happened. So it’s hard to judge when it’s not your taste, but by the reactions of our audience, obviously, there’s a big interest in it."

Gunther admitted that he has not paid much attention to The Wyatt Sicks amid his recent WWE absence. However, he is interested in how Triple H will handle them as it is tricky to retain the mysterious aura surrounding them while simultaneously linking it to WWE's in-ring action:

"I feel like the big challenge is always getting that in the ring and keep the mysterious aura around it but also making it work. But I haven’t paid too much attention to it right now, how it’s handled, but I would think if there’s somebody that can make it work and have the right dose of the spooky stuff and then the guys still being real [people], I think Hunter will have a good hand on that, on managing that. I wish for it to be a success, so let’s see. I’m very interested how it’s gonna play out," Gunther said.

The Ring General is believed by many to have reached a point where WWE is ready to coronate him as world champion. Will SummerSlam be the place?

Gunther on WWE absence after becoming the 2024 King of the Ring

Gunther defeated Randy Orton in the finals of the 2024 King of the Ring tournament, after which he cut a promo on RAW. He then appeared in an in-ring segment with Seth Rollins and World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest, but has largely been kept off television.

Regarding this, The Ring General commented that there was no reason for him to be there because he has the luxury to sit back and watch all the drama unfold on RAW until SummerSlam:

"Overall, I’m a big fan of less is more," Gunther said. "I think it’s a rule that applies in most occasions in life. I think in general, it makes sense right now. After I won the King of the Ring, it was clear I will be challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. [...] I had the luxury of leaning back for a few weeks," he added.

Less than a month after SummerSlam, WWE will be flying to Berlin for their first premium live event in Germany, titled Bash In Berlin. Gunther recently spoke about why the show is very important to him.
