Top WWE Superstar vows to become world champion at Saturday Night's Main Event after 8 years

WWE Saturday Night's Main Event is set to ignite the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York, on December 14, 2024. Meanwhile, a RAW Superstar recently vowed to capture a world championship in the company after an eight-year drought.

At SummerSlam 2016, Finn Balor emerged victorious over Seth Rollins in a hard-fought battle to become the inaugural Universal Champion, a historic moment in his career. However, due to a devastating injury he sustained during the match, the Irish star was forced to relinquish his newly won world title just 22 hours later, leaving both fans and The Demon heartbroken.

Since then, every attempt by The Judgment Day member to win a world title has been unsuccessful. Now, Balor is scheduled to compete for the World Heavyweight Title against Gunther and Damian Priest in a Triple Threat Match at SNME.

The Judgment Day's Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Carlito, and Dominik Mysterio laid waste to The Ring General and The Archer of Infamy on last night's RAW. In a video shared by WWE on X (formerly Twitter), The Demon delivered a chilling message to his opponents ahead of NBC's special show this Saturday.

"Eight years, I've been waitin' for that championship. You think I'm going to mess up now? No way!" Balor said.

Finn Balor will defend his WWE championship next week on RAW

On the June 24, 2024, installment of the red brand, Balor and McDonagh defeated The Miz and R-Truth of the Awesome Truth to capture the World Tag Team Championship. Since that victory, The Judgment Day duo has defended the title twice on television.

As announced by RAW General Manager Adam Pearce, The Irish Ace and The Prince will face Erik and Ivar of the War Raiders for the World Tag Team Championship on next week's flagship show.

Pearce also mentioned that the rest of The Judgment Day members would be barred from ringside during the title match.

It will be interesting to see if Finn Balor becomes a two-time World Champion on the main roster at Saturday Night's Main Event.
