Trick Williams makes major revelation about CM Punk's influence in WWE
Trick Williams has CM Punk to thank for his second WWE NXT Championship win. Whoop That Trick recently opened up about the Second City Saint's influence in the Stamford-based company.
Punk officiated the recent NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams which was ultimately won by the latter. The Best in the World hit Page with a GTS for good measures to end the heel's night.
While speaking on the Happy Hour podcast just days before his rematch with Ethan Page, Trick talked about who has helped him develop in WWE. He named the stars he heads to for advice about any in-ring matter.
"Honestly, I’m going straight to Shawn at this point," Trick Williams said on the Happy Hour podcast. [H/T Fightful]
Other than going to Shawn Michaels, there are a few other big names who help the 30-year-old star out. CM Punk is one of the men Williams claims has been very helpful in NXT in recent months:
"For where I want to be and where I see myself in my career, there are only a few people who are going to push me and give me the real like I really need to hear. That’s Shawn Michaels, Terry Taylor, Booker T, even CM Punk. CM Punk has been around a lot and he’s been very helpful for us. I would say those four guys." [H/T Fightful]
Williams will face Ethan Page in a Devil's Playground Match at NXT Halloween Havoc 2024. Fans could see Whoop That Trick retain the title to have a longer second reign.
CM Punk could help Trick Williams at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2024
As mentioned earlier, CM Punk officiated the NXT Championship match between Trick Williams and Ethan Page on the CW Network premier of the show earlier this month. The Best in the World seemed to favor the babyface, and he helped him pick up the win.
A couple of weeks ago, Ethan Page seemingly mocked CM Punk in a promo before the upcoming Devil’s Playground Match. It could result in another appearance by the Second City Saint on the developmental brand.
Punk could show up at NXT Halloween Havoc 2024 to distract Page and cost him the title again. That could lead to a contest between the two stars in the coming months.
The 45-year-old star seems to have taken a break from WWE programming after an extreme Hell in a Cell Match against Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood 2024. Punk could appear in NXT for a few matches, helping the brand get more viewership.
