Triple H assaulting 40-year-old WWE star after major show went off the air was "f**king perfect"; Popular wrestling critic Jim Cornette waxes lyrical
A major WWE star got physically involved with Triple H after a recent show went off the air. Jim Cornette commented on the unexpected and shocking altercation.
Cody Rhodes defended his Undisputed WWE Title against Kevin Owens at Saturday Night's Main Event. During the match, Owens came close to winning but the referee was knocked down and couldn't count the pinfall. Another referee came down to the ring but it was too late. The second referee was also knocked out moments later. However, by the time Cody hit the Cross Rhodes on Owens, the referee recovered and counted the pinfall.
Hence, Kevin Owens was upset and he hit Cody Rhodes with a Package Piledriver in the ring before stealing the winged-eagle WWE Championship after the match. Triple H came out and both men got into a shoving match with each other before the former went to check on The American Nightmare. The entire incident happened after the premium live event went off air.
Speaking on his The Experience podcast, Jim Cornette said that Owens giving the Package Piledriver to Cody was perfect. He also noted how several fans released the clips of the incident on social media and he even reviewed one clip of the move and said that Owens executed it perfectly. He also highlighted the confrontation between Owens and Triple H in the aisle way.
"After Saturday Night's Main Event went off the air, in some fashion, Owens got back on Cody and ended up giving him a Package Piledriver which was f***ing perfect. The WWE's released a clip on, I guess, their social media but there's a fan cam of it and it was f***ing perfect and they taped Cody to the backboard and stretchered him out and then Owens got into a shoving match with Triple H in the aisle way and they were cussing at each other."
He continued:
"Somebody on Twitter had a slowmo of the Piledriver and somebody said, "Cornette, what do you think about this?" They tweeted it to me and I hate to ruin the magic and explain why it wasn't dangerous but it wasn't dangerous but you couldn't see through it. It was beautiful, it was perfect." [8:12 - 9:12]
Kevin Owens took a slight dig at Triple H
Triple H is often known for posing with his wrestlers after they win a title. It has sort of become a tradition for The Game and new champions in WWE. The images are posted on social media and shows that he acknowledges the new champion. He did the same when Ricochet won the NXT North American Championship during his time in NXT.
Now, since Kevin Owens considers himself the true Unsiputed WWE Champion, he photoshopped himself over Ricochet to make it look like Triple H was congratulating him.
It will be interesting to see if The Game will get back into the ring for a match against Kevin Owens.
