Triple H bringing 3-time WWE champion back to the company after 4 years is possible, says veteran
A former WWE champion is rumored to be wanting to leave AEW. Meanwhile, a wrestling veteran recently claimed the Stamford-based company must re-sign that wrestler.
The in-ring competitor in question is Miro (FKA Rusev). The 38-year-old spent a decade in the Stamford-based company, during which he had three United States Championship reigns. However, he was released from his contract in April 2020. A few months later, the Bulgarian signed with AEW. Recent reports suggested that Miro had requested his release from Tony Khan's promotion.
On the Taking You To School podcast, wrestling veteran Tom Prichard was asked whether the Stamford-based company, creatively led by Triple H, should re-sign Miro. Tom stated that they should, claiming the erstwhile Rusev would be a "great asset" for the promotion.
"I've always liked Miro. I've always thought he was a great worker and a great guy. Yeah, I think he'd be a great asset to WWE," he said. [39:45-39:56]
WWE may never re-sign Miro, says Jim Cornette
In a recent edition of his Drive-Thru podcast, wrestling veteran Jim Cornette addressed the possibility of Miro returning to the Sports Entertainment juggernaut in the future. The 63-year-old claimed WWE may never re-sign the former United States Champion.
The wrestling veteran claimed the 38-year-old had been a "problem child" in AEW. Hence, the Stamford-based company may pass on the opportunity of bringing him back unless he had a close friend inside to plead his case.
"Why would they want him? At this point, everybody they've got's over. He lives in Bulgaria; he's been a problem child at the other company; unless he's got some close friends there, he can plead his case of complete innocence, and he hasn't acted like a stable type of individual himself," he said.
Miro has not competed in AEW since December 2023. It will be interesting to see if he leaves Tony Khan's promotion in the coming days.
