Triple H makes peculiar announcement on WWE Survivor Series: WarGames
WWE will present its 38th annual Survivor Series Premium Live Event in two weeks. The big event will see main roster superstars go to war inside the dreaded WarGames double-cage structure for the third straight year. Triple H began receiving some heat shortly after introducing WarGames to Survivor Series a few years back, and now he's made an announcement that is related to that same hostility.
The Game is known as a massive rock fan, with the late Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead and Black Sabbath's Ozzy Osbourne as favorites. This has led to the music legends providing numerous WWE themes over the years, including Sabbath's legendary War Pigs single being used at NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2020. After bringing WarGames to the main roster in 2022, Triple H chose Ozzy's Parasite and repeated Sabbath's War Pigs singles for the Survivor Series themes. This led to strong online criticism against Triple H, such as exclusive comments from Vince Russo, who accused Triple H of making it about himself. War Pigs was then chosen as the Survivor Series 2023 theme song, and Ozzy appeared in a cold open for the PLE.
WWE's Chief Content Officer took to X today to announce War Pigs for Survivor Series 2024, but there's a twist. The official theme song for this year's WarGames event is War Pigs featuring T-Pain and Black Sabbath. Shorter than the original, this cover version comes from T-Pain's 2023 On Top Of The Covers album. Ozzy noted that the R&B singer had created "the best cover" of the 1970 anti-war protest song, but it remains to be seen if Triple H approves. However, he did thank the band and T-Pain on X today.
"Thanks both to the legendary @BlackSabbath and to @TPAIN for 'War Pigs' -- the Official Theme Song of #SurvivorSeries," Triple H wrote with the cover art below.
Ozzy was inducted into the Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame, Class of 2021. The 75-year-old rocker accepted the induction via video message. T-Pain is a noted WWE fan.
