Triple H may have made massive Randy Orton mistake at WWE Bash in Berlin, according to Jim Cornette

Former WWE manager Jim Cornette recently reviewed Bash in Berlin, which was an incredible success. However, Cornette was not a fan of the finish of the main event match between Randy Orton and Gunther and thought Triple H could have done better.

Orton challenged The Ring General for the World Heavyweight Championship in enemy territory in Berlin. The Viper was the 'heel' during the match given that Gunther had the home-court advantage since he made his name as WALTER in Germany.

On the recent episode of The Jim Cornette Experience, Cornette explained how the finish of the Gunther-Orton match fell flat. He was still high on the match and called it great but preferred a pinfall victory rather than Gunther putting Orton to sleep.

"Great match (but) I hate these stationary finishes. I know they were still fighting for it and everything but that's another one of these modern tropes as they say that it just, when you're in that that same place in that same general position for that long and there is some element of it being a foregone conclusion. It doesn't give people the exhilaration of an incredible one, two, three that they didn't expect or were waiting to see. Suddenly, it's right in front of them and they got three seconds to register," Cornette said. [46:20 - 47:05]

Despite the finish, Randy Orton showed respect to Gunther after their hellacious match. It was a slobber knocker as fans cheered them both as the first-ever PLE in Germany ended.

Gunther praises Randy Orton after WWE Bash in Berlin

Speaking to the Gorilla Position podcast after WWE Bash in Berlin, Gunther had nothing but praise for Randy Orton. He broke character and thanked The Viper for putting him over, which will solidify his run as World Heavyweight Champion.

"In reality, Randy is the man. He's one of the greatest of all time. Absolute legend in our business and to be out there with him and to be able to beat him at that stage, it's a bit of a stamp of approval for myself, for my championship reign. I think I'm well prepared for all the challenges to come," Gunther said. [00:30 to 00:56]

Gunther is ready for a new challenge with Sami Zayn being teased as a future opponent. On the other hand, Orton is expected to return to WWE SmackDown after a failed venture to Monday nights.
