Triple H having power struggle with former real-life rival is possible, says analyst, after potentially assuming a new role in WWE
Triple H and a massive WWE Superstar previously had real-life heat. A WWE analyst now believes the two could feud on-screen in a storyline in which they could fight over power in the Stamford-based company.
The superstar in question is none other than The Rock. While addressing the possibility of Triple H returning to WWE TV as an on-screen authority figure on his Cheap Heat podcast, analyst Peter Rosenberg suggested The Game could feud with The Rock. The Final Boss and Triple H had a heated rivalry earlier in their wrestling careers. Meanwhile, they also had real-life heat. Earlier this year, the two teased reigniting their feud after The Rock became a TKO board member.
After the WrestleMania XL Kickoff show, the Hollywood star threatened The Game to take matters into his own hands if the latter did not handle the Cody Rhodes-Roman Reigns situation. On the following SmackDown, Triple H claimed he was the only one making the decisions, taking multiple shots at The Final Boss in his promo.
Rosenberg now believes that with SmackDown moving to the USA Network, a power struggle storyline between The Rock and the CCO could happen, claiming it would be "the most fun thing ever."
"As we get into this new SmackDown situation, don't forget that moment at the kickoff to WrestleMania when Triple H and The Rock had that moment backstage. I mean, we fantasized back then, could we get to this big overarching Triple H vs. The Rock story that hearkens all the way back to back in the day with The Rock being on the board, Triple H being in his position? I mean, don't forget. That is just sitting there to be the most fun thing ever," he said. [30:48 - 31:25]
WWE is reportedly planning for The Rock to face a huge superstar at WrestleMania 41
The Rock returned to the Stamford-based company earlier this year to fight his cousin, Roman Reigns. However, the company's plans changed following backlash from fans over Cody Rhodes' position. Instead, The Final Boss joined The Bloodline and feuded with The American Nightmare.
On night one of this year's Show of Shows, The Rock teamed up with Reigns to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag team match. Although he failed to help his cousin retain the Undisputed WWE Championship against The American Nightmare the following night, he confronted the latter on the following episode of RAW and promised to go after him upon his return from hiatus.
According to a recent report from Wrestling Observer Radio, the Stamford-based company plans to have The Rock go head-to-head against Rhodes at WrestleMania 41.
In an interview with ESPN, The Rock disclosed that they were planning "the biggest match of all time at WrestleMania 41." It will be interesting to see if he will indeed fight the Undisputed WWE Champion.
