Triple H retiring major WWE championship & making massive booking decision is possible, says veteran

A wrestling veteran recently urged WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H to retire a major championship. He added that The Game could also make a massive booking decision after potentially retiring the World Heavyweight Title.

Triple H introduced the new World Heavyweight Championship in April 2023. Since then, four superstars have held the championship, with Gunther being the current champion. However, wrestling veteran Jonathan Coachman has urged The Game to retire the newly established title.

Speaking on the Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast, The Coach said that WWE should have one world championship. Meanwhile, he suggested that the champion be on both RAW and SmackDown. The veteran also claimed that The King of Kings would "do it."

"I'm praying that they see the light and that they drop the title at some point. But we know because Triple H believes that title is the most important thing to their respective shows. I'm begging them to go back to one World Heavyweight Title. Enough with the WWE. Enough with the World Title. Make it one and make the guy work his a** off on both shows, period, end of story. They will do it. They will do it," he said. [20:08-20:29]

Gunther will defend the World Heavyweight Championship next week on WWE RAW

After ending Gunther's historic Intercontinental Championship reign at WrestleMania XL, Sami Zayn challenged The Ring General to a World Heavyweight Title match multiple times over the past few weeks. However, the latter continued to decline.

However, the World Heavyweight Champion finally accepted Zayn's challenge last night on RAW following a verbal and physical altercation inside the ring. The two superstars will now go head-to-head on the red brand next week.
