Triple H's booking of former Universal Champion on RAW wasn't ideal, says WWE legend
A WWE Hall of Famer shared his thoughts on a former Universal Champion's booking on RAW. Bubba Ray Dudley shared that he would have preferred it if Triple H let Braun Strowman sell his injuries and didn't have him wrestle last Monday.
Bronson Reed took out the Monster Among Men two weeks ago by delivering a thunderous Tsunami in the parking lot. Reed was supposed to face Ludwig Kaiser and Sheamus in a triple threat match for a chance at becoming the No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship.
Big Bronson was removed from the match after testing positive for COVID-19 and was replaced by Strowman. The former Universal Champion fought through injured ribs to get the win and qualify for the Fatal 4-Way match on next week's episode of RAW.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bubba Ray Dudley explained that Strowman should have sold his injuries rather than win the match. Dudley knew the result wouldn't change but preferred if the finish was different, especially if Reed returned next week.
"They've done so many positive things, turned the show around, it's so hot right now, because the stories all make sense. ... Unless Braun is the guy to win the tournament and then Bronson is going to destroy him, and take his spot in the tournament, then maybe I get it? But other than that, I wish they would have done it a little differently," Dudley said. (H/T Wrestling, Inc.)
Braun Strowman will battle Jey Uso, Pete Dunne, and Ilja Dragunov in a Fatal 4-Way match next week on WWE RAW. The winner will earn an opportunity to face Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship, possibly at WWE Bad Blood next month.
Bronson Reed reacts to getting replaced on WWE RAW
Bronson Reed has been on a tear since taking out Seth Rollins last month with six Tsunamis. Reed continued to wreak havoc by punishing R-Truth followed by The Miz two weeks ago before Braun Strowman came out to make the save.
Strowman and Reed battled it out last week but the match ended in a no-contest. The two behemoths brawled backstage and it even spilled to the parking lot. Reed got the upper hand and hit a devastating Tsunami on Strowman, who was on the hood of a car.
The 36-year-old star was on track to challenge for the Intercontinental Championship but was taken out by COVID-19 on Monday. When RAW general manager Adam Pearce replaced him with Strowman, Reed could not believe the decision.
"Wait …. so they replaced me with the 'monster' I slayed last week??? What the F… #WWERaw," Reed tweeted.
It will be interesting to see how Reed reacts once he's cleared to return to television. He's clearly unhappy with Pearce's decision and could take out his frustration by hitting a bunch of Tsunamis on some poor WWE star.
