Former WWE writer reacts to Triple H introducing the Crown Jewel Championships

Wrestling legend Vince Russo recently shared his thoughts on Triple H announcing the Crown Jewel Championships.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Brodown Live on Backstage Pass, Russo suggested that the company could have been paid millions to introduce the titles ahead of Crown Jewel 2024. He noted it was a sound business decision, but the company shouldn't expect fans to care about the titles.

"Here's the thing. You and I both know. What did Saudi Arabia pay for that ridiculous belt? We're talking, I'm telling you, bro, we're probably 10 million dollars. To have a Crown Jewel Champion, they probably paid 10 million dollars for that. So you can't blame WWE. If they're gonna offer you crazy stupid money, take the crazy stupid money. But you can't expect the fans to care about that." [From 22:28 onwards]

Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns in the main event of this year's Show of Shows to become champion. It will be fascinating to see what the promotion has in store on the road to WrestleMania 41 in the months ahead.
