Triple H shares tribute to WWE Hall of Famer Afa Anoa'i

The fans are mourning tonight after WWE Hall of Famer Afa Anoa'i passed away. The wrestling world continues to remember the Wild Samoan and send condolences to Manu, aka Afa Jr., and the legendary Anoa'i Family.

Afa passed away earlier today, August 16. He was 80 and had experienced health issues as of late. The passing of the Anoa'i Family patriarch came almost two months after the passing of his younger brother, Sika. Roman Reigns' father tragically left the world on June 25 at the age of 79.

Several pro wrestling stars have paid tribute to Afa The Wild Samoan. Triple H took to X to remember Afa as a family man dedicated to the business. The Chief Content Officer sent his thoughts to the family.

"Afa was devoted to his family, dominant in the ring, and dedicated to building future generations of @WWESuperstars. My thoughts are with the entire Anoa’i family as we remember the legendary Afa," Triple H wrote.

The Wild Samoans were inducted into World Wrestling Entertainment's Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2012. Afa and Sika held the WWE Tag Team Championship on three occasions but held around 17 other tag team championship reigns from Stampede Wrestling to the NWA territories.

Roman Reigns issues statement on his uncle, WWE legend Afa

The Anoa'i Family lost its patriarch today as Afa Anoa'i, aka The Wild Samoan #1, passed away at 80.

Roman Reigns took to X to pay tribute to his uncle and look ahead to his father and uncle reuniting in heaven.

"Our family has suffered another great loss with the passing of my uncle and WWE Hall of Famer, Gataivasā Afa Amituana'i Anoa'i. We thank everyone for their support and are comforted by the fact that he now rests in peace. Afa and my father, Pola’ivao Leati Sika Anoa’I were loving brothers, the greatest tag team of their generation, and now they’re reunited together in heaven. Rest in Power Wild Samoans," Roman Reigns wrote.

The Original Tribal Chief returned from a near-6-month hiatus at SummerSlam to go at it with Solo Sikoa. Reigns took out Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa on last week's SmackDown, but they got the upper hand and stood tall over him on this week's SmackDown.
