Trish Stratus gives a short and sweet response to potential match with Mercedes Moné

Trish Stratus vs. Mercedes Moné is a match that screams money in 2024. It appears that Stratus has now put forth a condition for the clash to happen.

Mercedes Moné, known in World Wrestling Entertainment as Sasha Banks, is nearing 200 days as All Elite Wrestling's AEW TBS Champion. She left WWE in May 2022 and next appeared in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, before signing with AEW. Moné continues to perform for both promotions.

In an interview with The Takedown on SI, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus was asked about the possibility of a high-profile match with Mercedes Moné, as Stratus had previously expressed a desire to work with Moné. Stratus did not rule out the possibility, but implied that the match will not happen unless the AEW TBS Champion returns to her previous stomping grounds:

"I really am a WWE girl all the way, I really am," Stratus said, before adding, "You never know. Who knows? There’s still so much more life to be had." [From 12:01 to 12:22]

Trish Stratus and Sasha Banks wrestled in WWE during a Royal Rumble match at one point. Despite showing good in-ring chemistry, the two never got to work a singles match. The Hall of Famer has worked with all the other Four Horsewomen in high-profile matches in the last decade.

Trish Stratus reflects on why a match with Sasha Banks did not happen in WWE

In the aforementioned interview with Rick Ucchino, Trish Stratus delved into why the match never happened. It was during the first Women's Royal Rumble in 2018 when Sasha Banks and the Hall of Famer met in the ring.

Banks ultimately eliminated the Hall of Famer, so there was a story WWE Creative could have explored. At the time, though, Stratus was retired. But then a year later, she returned to wrestle Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam, which was a one-off. It was not until 2023 when Trish Stratus returned to wrestle more dates, as she feuded with Becky Lynch throughout the year.

The Hall of Famer says that nobody anticipated her in-ring return after she retired in 2006, and by the time she got back in the ring to wrestle more frequently, Banks had left WWE:

"I really think people never thought I’d ever come back for another match. Like, after the Royal Rumble, it was enough. It was a little sizzle reel, so to speak, of Trish Stratus and Stratisfaction. Which is not easy to pull off, but it was like, all right," Stratus said. "But then, you know, she left." [From 11:33 to 11:58]

Stratus is open to returning for another WWE run. However, she adds that some things need to be considered before it. There is already a built-in rivalry for Stratus as the company wrote her off in a cliffhanger. Her then protege, Zoey Stark, ended their alliance by hitting her with the Z-360.
