Two major contenders step up to LA Knight for a US Title shot on SmackDown; Both get taken out
LA Knight is already two defenses into his run as United States Champion - which is as much as what the previous champ, Logan Paul, had in ten months. It looks like one or two superstars could be next for him. After two major names stepped up as contenders, they both got taken out by The Megastar. This was Carmelo Hayes and Andrade.
LA Knight received a massive pop as usual in Canada, where SmackDown was held tonight. This was a week after he beat Ludwig Kaiser in an open challenge. So far, Santos Escobar and Ludwig Kaiser have been formidable opponents - allowing Knight to equal his televised title defenses to Logan Paul. In Europe, Knight defended the title five times in untelevised Fatal-Four-Way matches.
This week on the blue brand, it was Carmelo Hayes who first came out to step up against the United States Champion. His rival Andrade also stepped up - teasing a Triple-Threat match. As those keeping count might know, Carmelo and Andrade are now tied two-two on SmackDown and have had a heated rivalry. LA Knight managed to take both of them out.
Things got tense quickly between the three men, with Andrade and Carmelo's rivalry pouring into the United States Championship picture. Match number five next week between the two could determine a number one contender.
Either way, neither Carmelo nor Andrade look to be in a position to dethrone the United States Champion right now.
The Megastar stood tall on SmackDown once again.
