Umaga's brother addresses possible WWE Hall of Fame induction
Umaga worked for WWE between 2001 and 2003 before returning for another run with the company between 2005 and 2009. Tonga Kid, the WWE legend's brother, recently gave his take on speculation about the Hall of Fame.
In 2009, Umaga passed away at the age of 36 after suffering a heart attack. The two-time Intercontinental Champion is often mentioned when fans speculate on potential future Hall of Fame inductees.
Tonga Kid said in an emotional interview with Monte & The Pharaoh that his brother deserved to join WWE's illustrious group of legends.
"He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. He's special. There's some wrestlers that deserve action figures and then there's some that don't. In my brother's case, I think he had earned and worked his way to the top. And if he ever does get inducted in the Hall of Fame, I think they at least owe him that for the job that he did." Umaga's most memorable match arguably came in 2007 at WrestleMania 23. Representing Vince McMahon, he lost to Donald Trump's wrestler Bobby Lashley in a Battle of the Billionaires match.
Tonga Kid on Umaga's legacy in wrestling today
On November 30, seven of Tonga Kid's relatives will feature at Survivor Series: WarGames when the original and new Bloodline factions do battle.
Tonga Kid is proud of his family's representation in WWE and thinks the future also looks bright for Umaga's son Zilla Fatu:
"I think his kids, his wife, it'll [a Hall of Fame induction] make a lot of difference in their life as well. If you could see his son, Zilla Fatu, as well, he's going right behind to keep his dad's legacy going." [49:07 – 49:25]
Zilla Fatu, 25, debuted in 2023 and has wrestled for promotions including Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) and Reality of Wrestling (ROW).
