Umaga's son breaks character and reveals why he's in "no rush" to sign with WWE or any other major promotion
Umaga's son Zilla Fatu has been in the spotlight for some time now, and not always for the right reasons. However, his highly-anticipated signing to WWE may not happen anytime soon as he revealed he was in no rush to sign with the sports entertainment juggernaut or any other promotion.
On Busted Open Radio on SiriusXM, Tommy Dreamer and Dave LaGreca asked Zilla, the son of the late Umaga, about who he would pick in The Bloodline Civil War. His response to it might come off as surprising considering he's Jacob Fatu's ex-tag team partner.
Either way, he was also asked about getting into wrestling and Zilla Fatu revealed that it was just an option for him after getting out of jail. He said that he was in no rush to sign with any major promotion right now because it was an emotional journey that has brought him closer to his father Umaga.
"I never wanted to wrestle like that growing up. I came home from jail and wrestling was an option, so I just ended up doing it and I'm here. I want to say me wrestling right now, I'm really happy I started wrestling because it brought me closer to who my dad was. That's why this journey is so emotional to me, that's why I'm not in any rush to get anywhere. I think every day I get in the ring, I get emotional because I tap into who my dad was."
When Thunder Rosa asked him to elaborate, Zilla Fatu said one of his goals is cementing the legacy of his father through himself:
"I think what really made me tap in since was the love and affection I got from fans. Here I'm thinking my dad passed away in 2009 and it's 2024 and he's still getting that love. So for me to receive that from them, it makes me want to go. It makes me think, 'Maybe there is something with wrestling,' and that's just one of my chapters. It's not a story, it's one of the chapters in my life to make sure my dad's legacy lives up to the expectations that everybody holds me to. That's what I'm doing now and I'm excited."
Umaga's son won his third Championship and sent out a message
Zilla Fatu is now a three-promotion champion - winning the Reality of Wrestling Championship as well as the House of Glory Crown Jewel Championship.
After beating Moose to become the Fourth Rope Heavyweight Champion, the son of Umaga Zilla Fatu took to Instagram to send a message:
"Life is a wheel of fortune & it's my turn to spin it."
Many will be hoping he gets an opportunity to hold the title in a major promotion like WWE in the future.
