Unexpected top star facing Gunther in major title match at Bash in Berlin should happen, says ex-WWE host

Gunther could walk into the WWE Bash in Berlin holding the World Heavyweight Championship. A former host in the Stamford-based company now suggested he should defend the title against a top star in a first-time-ever match if that scenario if he did capture the title at SummerSlam.

The Ring General has a guaranteed World Heavyweight Championship shot at The Biggest Party of the Summer after winning the King of the Ring Tournament. While he has a chance to capture the title on August 3, former RAW Talk host Matt Camp suggested on his The Wrestling Matt Show podcast that United States Champion Logan Paul challenge the leader of Imperium in the German capital later that same month.

The released WWE talent pointed out that although "a lot would have to happen" for that match to take place, it is still possible:

"Forget the U.S. Title, let's set that up for the World Title. Logan Paul versus Gunther, I kinda wanna see that now, not for the U.S. Title, make it bigger. Gunther [vs] Logan Paul at Bash in Berlin? Oh, now I'm intrigued. Now, I kinda like this idea. I know a lot would have to happen but I think there's something to that," he said. Ex-WWE writer believes Gunther would defeat Damian Priest at SummerSlam

Damian Priest is scheduled to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle this Saturday. Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. predicted on the Wrestling with Freddie podcast that The Judgment Day member will successfully retain his title in Glasgow, Scotland.

Meanwhile, he also predicted that Gunther will end Priest's World Heavyweight Championship reign at SummerSlam:

"He's [Damian Priest] got to have at least one win for it to feel like a more legitimate championship when Gunther wrestles him, and Gunther will beat Damian Priest. That's my second prediction. I really like Gunther. I like Damian Priest too, and I like Drew McIntyre, but somebody has to win and be champ, and I think they're going to give it to Gunther. I think he's ready. I hope he's ready. His wrestling is so awesome and fun to watch." [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]

While Gunther's historic Intercontinental Championship reign ended earlier this year at WrestleMania XL at the hands of Sami Zayn, it would be interesting to see if he will become World Heavyweight Champion before the end of 2024.
