Unfortunate official update on AJ Styles by WWE following injury on SmackDown; star collapsed

There's an unfortunate update about AJ Styles after he suffered an injury on WWE SmackDown. The company provided an official update.

Styles battled Carmelo Hayes on this week's episode of SmackDown after the latter interrupted him during the show. However, he hurt himself, landing badly off a springboard off the middle rope. He was left hobbling the rest of the match, and things didn't improve. He collapsed in the match when trying to deliver a move, and the referee had to stop the bout.

Soon after, WWE delivered an unfortunate update about the star. Medical personnel had determined that AJ Styles' ankle was severely injured. He had to be helped to the back as his left ankle was damaged in the match. The nature of the injury is not known. The commentary team said that Styles was being taken to the hospital to get it checked out.

The coming few days should reveal more as he's getting checked for the seriousness of the injury. The star only returned this week, and the unfortunate injury appears to have put him out of action again.
