USA Network unhappy after CM Punk and Seth Rollins brawl on RAW; WWE veteran shares unique reason (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo feels the USA Network is unhappy with the company promoting RAW on Netflix. The red brand is scheduled to move to the streaming platform on January 6.
CM Punk and Seth Rollins brawled to start the show this week. The two men began throwing hands in the crowd, and several WWE officials had to rush in to pull them apart.
This week on Legion of RAW, Vince Russo explained that the company was using the last few RAWs of the year to pull fans to Netflix. He pointed out that the Seth and Punk brawl was orchestrated to advertise the RAW premiere on Netflix.
He felt the USA Network was probably unhappy with this strategy and so muted "Netflix" when Cathy Kelley mentioned that the flagship show would be moving to the streaming giant next month.
"So here you got USA Network, and WWE is making this an infomercial on January 6 on Netflix. I'm pretty much confident that USA Network doesn't want to drive fans to Netflix on Monday Night. It's very interesting because they have a brawl and what do you do? You come back, and you promote the match on Netflix. But something very interesting. They go later on to the back, and Cathy Kelley says, 'RAW premieres on Netflix.' They muted it. The USA Network muted Netflix. That speaks volumes. That tells you they are not happy with WWE making it a promotional show for Netflix." [From 4:45 onwards]
It was made official this week that CM Punk and Seth Rollins will finally clash on the January 6 edition of RAW.
Triple H also took to X/Twitter to hype up the match, claiming that it was years in the making.
