Veteran believes Gunther is too "mentally" hurt to win major upcoming WWE match (Exclusive)

Gunther has a massive match coming up against Jey Uso in the WWE King of the Ring tournament. However, veteran journalist Bill Apter thinks he will not be able to win it.

Gunther had built an impressive record ever since making his main roster debut. His entire run-up until WrestleMania 40 saw him dominate his opponents and never get pinned. It was only at The Showcase of the Immortals that The Ring General was taken down by Sami Zayn, who bagged the Intercontinental Title from him.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Bill Apter explained why he thought Gunther is yet to recover fully from his WrestleMania 40 loss. The veteran journalist stated:

"Unfortunately Gunther has been taking quite a shellacking from the opponents recently. He really has, and I have never seen him in that type of condition, so to say. I think losing that Intercontinental title really hurt him mentally and I think that is going to spurn Yeet (Jey Uso) to beat Gunther." [3:46 onwards]

WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long thinks Gunther will emerge victorious

According to Teddy Long, Gunther is still unstoppable in the ring and will probably win against Jey Uso.

Speaking in the same episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, the WWE Hall of Famer explained his perspective on The Ring General's in-ring prowess. He stated that Gunther has evolved into a top name in the pro wrestling business and has a good chance of taking down the former Bloodline member.

"I have to say he (Gunther) gets better and better each and every time he steps into the ring. So my prediction would be, I tell you, man, Gunther is hungry. He understands this business now, he knows what it means to be a champion, and you know it would surprise me if Gunther didn't get the win there." [4:18 onwards]

As of now, it remains to be seen what is next for the former Intercontinental Champion in the WWE King of the Ring tournament.
