Veteran reveals Stephanie McMahon rumor that WWE allegedly wants to keep secret (Exclusive)

Stephanie McMahon left her role as WWE Chairwoman in January 2023 after her father Vince McMahon returned to the company. Vince Russo, WWE's former head writer, recently heard a rumor about her status with the organization.

In April, Stephanie McMahon made her first WWE appearance in over a year when she welcomed fans to the second night of WrestleMania XL. Her husband, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, later clarified she "does not have an official role right now" in the company.

However, speaking to host Dr. Chris Featherstone on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing With Russo, Russo claimed the 48-year-old has a bigger behind-the-scenes position than many think:

"I'm hearing through the grapevine somebody is very active behind the scenes at the WWE and it's being kept very, very hush-hush. I'm hearing Stephanie is back in the fold big time. This is what I'm hearing. She is back in the fold big time and they're trying to keep it quiet." [15:53 – 16:21]

Vince Russo on why Stephanie McMahon's alleged WWE return is a secret

In January, former WWE employee Janel Grant accused Vince McMahon of sexual assault and trafficking between 2019 and 2022. He denied the allegations before resigning from WWE's parent company TKO "out of respect."

Vince Russo believes Stephanie McMahon likely wants to stay out of the spotlight until her father's legal situation is dealt with:

"If we knew, bro, he's guilty, he's going away, this thing is over, that's one thing. But if you make that public and she is very active inside the company that clearly booted him out the door, 'We want nothing to do with you,' and then all of a sudden there's a non-guilty verdict, that's the elephant in the room, Chris. That's why I think they're doing things the way they're doing them." [17:03 – 17:31]

Vince McMahon's son-in-law Triple H is the only McMahon family member who currently works for WWE. In recent weeks, it has been widely speculated that Shane McMahon could join AEW.
