Vince McMahon allegedly riled up former WWE star enough to cause legitimate real-life fight

Vince McMahon has not been a part of WWE for a while now. The former CEO of WWE is undoubtedly the reason WWE was established as the greatest sports entertainment company in the world. McMahon one allegedly riled up a star to cause a real-life fight, according to the star.

Back in 1984, a massive controversy made headlines all around the world. Former WWF star David Shultz slapped a reporter backstage, which turned out to be one of the biggest headlines. The incident took place in the locked room and details of it have now been explained.

In a recent edition of What Were They Thinking? on Backstage Pass, Gerald Brisco addressed the controversy and revealed that Vince McMahon had already warned the locker room that some questions from the reporter might not be appreciated.

While other stars kept calm, Shultz stepped up and slapped the reporter which led to a lot of commotion backstage during the show.

“Vince comes in, he give his old pep talk - ‘Guys we’ve got John Stossel out here, he’s an investigating reporter…I gotta tell ya, he’s asking some questions that some of you will not like…’ You’ve got David Shultz out there, one of the toughest guys in the business during that time. And of course he’s gonna step up… When we were stepping out, all we see is a commotion,” said Gerald Brisco. [5:06 onwards]

David Shultz revealed Vince McMahon had asked him to take liberties with the reporter

While the incident involving David Shultz made headlines around the world, the latter revealed that Vince McMahon had asked him to take liberties with the reporter.

In an interview a few years ago, the legend revealed that McMahon had asked to 'blast' the reporter, and so he did.

"I did what I was told to do. Vince McMahon told me to blast him and tear his a** up and to stay in character and be Dr. D. When I went out that door I did not know who John Stossel was. I made John Stossel [because] nobody knew who John Stossel was and after that night and that TV show and after all the whining and crying this guy did, crying like a baby he goes on Barbara Walters saying he [Schultz] beat me up," Shultz stated.
