Vince McMahon blamed for recent WWE incident, by his own boss!
WWE's co-founder Vince McMahon has been the heart and soul of the Stamford-based promotion for decades. Recently, his boss, Ari Emanuel, blamed him for a drop in TKO's stock.
WWE and UFC were recently merged under the TKO Group Holdings. Many reports have suggested that McMahon stepped down from controlling the day-to-day business of the Stamford-based promotion. Instead, Triple H seems to have all of the creative control.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg's Lucas Shaw at the Bloomberg Screentime event in Los Angeles, the CEO of TKO and Endeavor, Ari Emanuel, discussed the merger between the two sports giants.
The CEO was asked about the WWE/TKO Group Holdings drop in stock. He mentioned three things that affected the company's stock.
Ari Emanuel debunked the reports that suggested a 40% increase in the stocks due to RAW being low and said that the increase was in line with expectations. He also mentioned the Professional Fighters League's business with the Saudis.
"I would say to you there’s plenty of interest with RAW right now. I know people are like, ‘NBC is out of the mix,’ and that’s why it went down. I think there are three things that happened. One reason the stock is down is they thought RAW was the best package. I saw a 40 percent increase, which was in line with expectations… Two, the P.F.L. situation," said Emanuel.
However, the third issue he mentioned was Vince McMahon wanting to put in his stock at any time.
"Three, probably Vince [McMahon] in our deal, wanted to be able to put, at any point in time, his stock. He’s 78 years old. He’s been working at this for decades and decades, so, I think those three back-to-back issues…" Emanuel added. [9:08 - 9:47]
