Vince McMahon finally addresses serious allegations against him by former WWE referee: "It was consensual"
Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was seriously accused of non-consensual sexual intimacy by referee Rita Chatterton. The 79-year-old addressed the allegations in his documentary, Mr. McMahon, which was recently released on Netflix.
Rita Chatterton was the first female referee in WWE. She worked in the company from 1984 to 1986. Chatterton accused McMahon of forcing her into intercourse in 1986, stating that she was forced to have oral sex to save her career. When Rita refused, it was not taken too kindly by the former chairman.
Vince McMahon addressed the allegations in the Netflix documentary, Mr. McMahon, noting that it never happened.
"When you’re accused of this, accused of that, and there is this deluge of things, 'You’re this, you’re that,' one of the things was an alleged r*pe, that never happened."
The 79-year-old noted that everything that happened between the two was consensual.
"Once you’re accused of r*pe, you’re a r*pist. But it was consensual, and actually, had it been a r*pe, the statute of limitations had run out. So it’s all kind of crap like that people are digging up and trying to find something on you." [From 40:13 to 41:16]
While Vince McMahon has always denied Rita Chatterton's accusations, a multi-million dollar settlement was made with her in early 2023.
