Vince Russo supports big change in the Triple H regime that has never been done before in WWE (Exclusive)
WWE's presentation has changed tremendously over the past year, but Vince Russo says one thing that has never happened before is the company showing credits to end the show, as seen on this week's SmackDown.
Post-show credits are a new feature on the programming as the promotion finally acknowledges the production team and the leading personalities in charge of the show.
Vince Russo spent several years in WWE during the Attitude Era and, as revealed on BroDown, was happy to see the development he'd personally never seen before.
Back in the day, the main goal was to protect the business, and WWE never rolled out credits to ensure people didn't think wrestling was fake. The times have changed, and Vince Russo stated that anyone who still blindly believed in pro wrestling was not in the right frame of mind.
However, the former head writer praised the new regime and stressed the importance of recognizing the work of many underappreciated personnel backstage.
"I like that they give credit because they've never done that before! And the people behind the scenes, everyone, from the producer to the director, to the ring crew, to the camera guys, audio guys, these guys bust their arses, bro! The least you can give them is a credit. Obviously, bro, back in the day, they would never credit anything because they wanted you to believe that it was real. There is no way you can believe this crap, bro. So they might as well throw the credits up there." [25:48- 28:00]
Led by CCO Triple H and production head Lee Fitting, WWE has gradually changed how the product is shown to the audience, and thus far, their new direction is getting the desired reaction.
