[WATCH] 55-year-old's live reaction to CM Punk's return at WWE Money in the Bank

CM Punk returned at WWE Money in the Bank this past weekend after suffering a beatdown at the hands of Drew McIntyre in Chicago a few weeks ago. Considering the way he was written off television, his appearance at the recent show was unexpected.

Commentator Michael Cole was shocked at The Straight Edge Superstar's return. He literally jumped out of his seat immediately after Punk slid into the ring and attacked Drew McIntyre as the latter was looking to pin World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest.

Cole went on to call CM Punk the "Second City Devil" in the eyes of Drew McIntyre after what transpired. The Scotsman had won the Money in the Bank contract earlier in the night and had cashed it in during the previously announced singles match between Priest and Seth Rollins.

Much like McIntyre, Rollins was not too pleased with Punk's shenanigans. As per the stipulation, The Visionary can no longer contest for the belt so long as Priest is the champion.

CM Punk weighs in on a potential AJ Lee WWE return

At the post-show press conference, CM Punk was asked about his wife AJ Lee, who retired from in-ring competition in 2015.

While Punk clarified that it really is up to the former Divas Champion, he reminded everyone that until he showed up at WWE Survivor Series: War Games in November 2023, nobody expected to see him back in World Wrestling Entertainment:

"It's really all on her. She's busy, I'm super proud of her, she's doing her own thing. She's got a, I don't even know if I'm allowed to talk about this stuff, she's got a production company started up, she's writing TV, movies, all kinds of stuff, and I laughably always say I'm a bad husband because I never know what project she's talking about... I will say as a fan of hers, would love to see it [ AJ Lee's return]."

During the post-show press conference, WWE correspondent Jackie Redmond informed that CM Punk is still not cleared to compete. This makes for an interesting scenario as his rivalry with Drew McIntyre has reached a breaking point, but the match could face a delay.
