[Watch] CM Punk corrects WWE personality during exclusive interview - "If you say that, you're an idiot"
WWE star CM Punk was in the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for Saturday Night's Main Event this week. The star was not booked for the show but was backstage meeting with legends.
Punk has been a prominent fixture on WWE TV since he returned last year. After being sidelined with a torn tricep at the start of the year, Punk came back strongly in the second half. He had an epic rivalry with Drew McIntyre that gave us a trilogy of matches, culminating at the Bad Blood Premium Live Event. He then teamed up with the OG Bloodline at Survivor Series: WarGames, helping them win the match.
CM Punk was with Jackie Redmond and Peter Rosenberg in a backstage interview, sharing how he was catching up and taking pictures with some legends. While discussing Koko B Ware's legendary career, he corrected Rosenberg, asking him not to use the word "move set." Punk mentioned that wrestlers never use such terminology.
"Don't say move set. It's garbage. If you say that, you're an idiot. Gosh, if you're a wrestler and you say move set, that one hundred percent tells me you don't know what the hell you're doing." [From 4:00 - 4:20]
CM Punk also fired shots at Seth Rollins
During the same discussion, Punk took the opportunity to lash out at Seth Rollins. Punk thanked the fans for chanting his name despite him not being on the match card.
The Best in the World mentioned he understood Seth's frustrations stemmed from the fact that fans were chanting for Punk. He clarified that he would have felt the same way if fans chanted for someone else while he was wrestling.
"I think it gets old for a lot of other people, namely Seth Rollins. If I had to wrestle for ten years, or seven years, or however long I was gone, and people were chanting somebody else's name, yeah, I'd hate me too," Punk said.
The animosity between CM Punk and Seth Rollins has escalated to a whole new level in the last couple of weeks and it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for the two men in the months leading up to WrestleMania.
