Watch: What CM Punk said to Seth Rollins before WWE SummerSlam attack

CM Punk's return to televised WWE singles action came at SummerSlam, but Drew McIntyre defeated him. The rivals battled inside a raucous Browns Stadium while special guest referee Seth Rollins did his best to officiate. A look at what Punk and Rollins said has been revealed.

The Visionary was linked to distractions and controversies during the first-ever Punk vs. McIntyre match. At one point, The Second City Saint argued with Rollins at ringside until The Scottish Warrior sent Punk into Rollins. Punk hit a GTS for the pin, but Rollins was still down at ringside.

McIntyre kicked out, leading to a heated exchange in the middle of the ring between the former ROH World Champions, which included a viral name-drop of ECW Original Sabu.

"You're about as good a referee as you are a wrestler. 1-2-3! Are you messing with me? Huh? Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me right now? I told you... ... I don't care about that [referee shirt], I don't care about your stupid Sabu pants," CM Punk said.

Rollins retorted with bold words for the former AEW World Champion. After Rollins ranted, Punk hit him with a rough GTS, then acknowledged that it's not always about him but never about Rollins.

"You listen to me! I told you this is my ring, [inaudible], my ruling, my company... you understand me? We don't need you here, we don't want you here, not everything's about you. Not everything is about you! [...] I counted [inaudible], I saved you from a chair shot. ... That's [McIntyre] your problem, focus on what you gotta do, right there, for the picking. You understand me?" Seth Rollins said.

McIntyre hit a low blow and a Claymore as Rollins hesitated to make the three count. The Architect went right to the back as McIntyre took Punk's bracelet, which was dedicated to AJ Lee and Larry, which all three WWE stars wore in the match.

The former WWE Champion kissed the bracelet, posed with a boot on Punk's chest, then wiped his feet next to Punk.

CM Punk wants WWE SummerSlam rematch

CM Punk returned from an injury at WWE SummerSlam but came up short against Drew McIntyre in a match filled with tense moments involving special referee Seth Rollins.

The action continued on tonight's wild WWE RAW as The Straight-Edge Superstar announced that his road to WrestleMania 41 began at SummerSlam. Punk then declared he wanted a rematch.

The Visionary interrupted Punk, but before they could fight, the Scottish Warrior chimed in. After verbal shots and insults, Punk chased McIntyre through the crowd while Bronson Reed rushed out with a surprise attack to level Rollins.
