"We have not seen Randy Orton in a while" - The Viper brought major change, believes Tommy Dreamer, in record-breaking WWE champion on RAW
WWE RAW after SummerSlam allowed Randy Orton to shoot straight into the top title picture. Tommy Dreamer has now pointed out a major change that helped build his first segment after SummerSlam.
The Viper had been floating in the mid-card since his return from injury last year. He has helped Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes against The Bloodline on a few occasions and worked closely with Kevin Owens in a tag team.
The latest edition of RAW saw The Viper aim higher and interrupt the new World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther. The two men had a nice exchange that led to a match between the two big stars being set for Bash in Berlin.
Tommy Dreamer spoke about the segment in the latest edition of Busted Open After Dark. He noted that the former record-breaking Intercontinental Champion, who now holds the World Heavyweight Championship, seems to have met his match immediately.
"We have not seen Randy Orton in a while. The best part of the 'why,' they acknowledged the past," Dreamer noted. "Randy Orton can strike at any time but what Randy also said was, 'Hey man, I was you before you were you,'" Dreamer said, acknowledging Orton’s way of challenging Gunther. [9:35 - 10:36]
It was a nice little segment that set up the World Heavyweight Championship match between Randy Orton and Gunther with a good base. It will be a test for The Ring General, who will face The Viper for the second time in a one-on-one competition.
WWE Hall of Famer believes Gunther will go over Randy Orton clean at Bash in Berlin
WWE did not wait till Bash in Berlin to put the World Heavyweight Championship on Gunther. Instead, Triple H and his men pulled the trigger at SummerSlam and took the title away from Damian Priest.
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray predicted that WWE will give Gunther a clean win over The Viper. The first match between the two superstars had a tainted finish, and only a clean pin at Bash in Berlin would make sense.
"A [Ric] Flair and [Ricky] Steamboat finish is what probably makes the most sense. Do I want to see Gunther go over Randy [Orton]? Yes. Do I want to see Gunther beat Randy Orton with his finish... Where Gunther covers Randy one... two... three... and Randy's still on his back? Absolutely not. You know how I want to see Gunther win? With a small package, with an inside cradle, or with a backslide. I want to see back and forth, counter for counter, move for move, and all of a sudden, there's that one little thing where Gunther can keep Randy's shoulders down for three and one-quarter second," Ray said.
While The Viper will try to add another WWE world title reign to his record, Gunther will do everything he can to cleanly pin Orton and retain the title to ensure he has a long reign without Randy Orton on his back.
