"What a bump!" - Wrestling veteran shocked to see CM Punk's dangerous spot on SmackDown (Exclusive)
Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell spoke about CM Punk on SmackDown this week. The star returned to the blue brand for a one-off appearance this week.
This week on SmackDown, Punk returned to a wild reception from his hometown fans. The Best in the World cut a promo before he was interrupted by Paul Heyman. Things got complicated as The Bloodline rushed to attack him but Cody Rhodes came out with a couple of baseball bats as a deterrent. Later, Drew McIntyre showed up and attacked Punk backstage. He then carried Punk's body to the arena and dumped it on the stage.
This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Mantell pointed out how Drew dumped Punk on the entrance stage. He claimed that was a big bump for the Best in the World, who is just coming out of a tricep injury.
"Dropping him? He just let him go. I said, Damn, what a bump!' " [9:56 onwards]
Mantell also spoke of Punk's star power in Chicago. He pointed out how the loyal fans were chanting his name throughout the segment and urging him to fight back.
"So when they were shouting CM Punk, CM Punk, I said, 'Wait a minute, is he supposed to be the heel?' I mean, he could've done anything to him. He could've cut his head off, he'd still have been a big babyface, especially in Chicago. That surprised me." [10:24 onwards]
With this attack, Drew finally managed to get one over on Punk. It will be interesting to see what lies ahead in this personal rivalry between the two men.
