WWE News: What happened after Raw, 4th April 2016 went off-air?
AJ Styles defeated Cesaro, Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho to become the # 1 contender for Roman Reigns’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It was a big moment for ‘the Phenomenal one’, one which he had worked towards for a long time.
As Raw went off-air ‘the Phenomenal one’ got emotional in the ring as he received a tremendous ovation from the fans present in the arena.
It is a well known fact that AJ Styles is best independent wrestler to ever step foot in a WWE ring. This week’s RAW saw him reach a place he would have reached long before if he was wrestling for WWE all the while, a chance to main event at a WWE pay-per-view.
This could be an interesting development to note. Many thought that WWE has started to bury the wrestler when he lost Y2J at WrestleMania 32. But it rather looks to be a storyline loss. The ovation AJ got as he pinned Y2J was tremendous and WWE had planned it well for Styles to rise from the fall.
With a fresh champion like Reigns, WWE could bring up a lot of potential main event talent riddled along the midcard. It looks like WWE had taken the bold step forward at WrestleMania by crowning him the champion. Now a whole new host of possibilities lie in front WWE for it explore and cultivate more main event talent. Maybe, crowning Roman champion was the best thing WWE did at WrestleMania!
