Why 34-year-old star's public frustration about his WWE position is purely a work, according to Vince Russo (Exclusive)
A 34-year-old WWE Superstar is increasingly getting frustrated on SmackDown. The tag team specialist also showed some uncharacteristic, unruly behavior on this week’s blue brand episode. However, former writer of the company, Vince Russo, believes that these emotions displayed by Montez Ford are part of a storyline.
The Street Profits are one of the most competent tag teams in WWE right now. However, the duo of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford hasn’t held tag team gold for over four years now. Moreover, the Motor City Machine Guns, who recently signed a contract with WWE, became the tag team champions within just a few weeks of their debut.
Speaking on the latest episode of Backstage Pass about the visible venting of frustration by Ford, Vince Russo said that this display is work. Giving his reasons, Russo said that under no circumstances would Ford do anything that would put the career of his wife, Bianca Belair, in jeopardy.
“I'll tell you why I smelt the work because even if he felt that way, and Mac, He's got to feel that way. What a waste of a freaking talent. It's a joke. However, he is smart enough to know he's not gonna say anything publicly with his wife working there on the spot she's in. Because he knows how it works, and it's like, ‘Okay now this is gonna hurt my wife.’ So that's why I immediately knew he's working. He's not gonna put his wife’s spot in jeopardy,” he said. Right now, Bianca Belair is the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Jade Cargill and has defended her title multiple times in the past two months. It would be interesting to see if Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins make a breakthrough following this new storyline or if it will mark the end of The Street Profits.
