"Why is he giving out Christmas cards?" - Former WWE writer questions SmackDown segment (Exclusive)
WWE SmackDown had its last show of 2024 this week. The episode featured Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Carmelo Hayes, among others. Speaking of Melo, the former NXT Champion was seen giving out Christmas cards to Nick Aldis and Zayn before his match with The Honorary Uce.
During a recent edition of BroDown on Backstage Pass, Vince Russo questioned the logic behind Hayes giving out Christmas cards two days after Christmas, noting WWE had no idea what they were doing with the segment.
"Why is he giving out Christmas cards two days after Christmas? Are they that like not having a clue? Guys, it's December 27th. If the guy was going to give away Christmas cards, it should have been last week.
He added that the company did not seem to care about anything.
"I swear I'm just getting to the point of like bro, they they just don't care about anything. They don't care about detail, they don't care about logic, they don't care about things making sense." [14: 19 onwards]
The match between Hayes and Zayn on SmackDown featured a couple of run-ins. Braun Strowman tried to attack Hayes but he managed to avoid The Monster of All Monsters. The next spot saw The Bloodline enter the ring to attack Zayn, causing the match to end in DQ.
Fans will have to wait to see if WWE books another match between Carmelo Hayes and Sami Zayn.
