Why Motor City Machine Guns dethroning The Bloodline was a mistake, according to WWE veteran (Exclusive)

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo was puzzled by the Stamford-based company's decision to put the WWE Tag Team Championship on The Motor City Machine Guns. The tandem won the titles in just their third match for the company.

The duo of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin won back-to-back matches on SmackDown this week. First, they took down DIY to become the number-one contenders. After the encounter, The Bloodline came down and goaded the new team to have the title match then and there. Sabin and Shelley took on the challenge and defeated Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa, albeit with some help from Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, and Jey Uso.

This week on BroDown hosted by Mac Davis, Russo stated that it was a bad idea to have The Motor City Machine Guns win the titles. He felt it took away all the heat from The Bloodline. The 63-year-old veteran pointed out that WWE was getting the original Bloodline back together but the heels losing dented their credibility ahead of a big showdown.

"Listen, I don't agree for one second with putting the belt on The Motor City Machine Guns because you're taking the heat off the heels. We just took the heat off the heels? Why? You're bringing back Roman, you're putting the band back together, and at the same time, you're taking the heat off the heels. That doesn't make any sense to me," Vince Russo said. With this win, The Motor City Machine Guns have put the entire tag team division on notice.

It will be interesting to see how their title reign pans out in WWE's competitive tag team division.
