WWE News: Will Ospreay talks about his WWE dream, wanting to be like AJ Styles and more
Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling superstar Will Ospreay is one of the fastest-rising pro wrestlers in the world at present. In a recent interview with ESPN, the 23-year old discussed his dream of joining the WWE, his idol AJ Styles and his match against Ricochet at NJPW’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament.
Speaking about the possibilities of him joining the WWE, Ospreay admitted that now was not the time for him to make the move. However, he claimed that it is certainly his dream to get there but he wanted it to happen in a big way. The ROH star was quoted as saying:
“I just feel like right now it's not the time for me. Trust me when I say this, WWE has always been the thing I've grown up watching -- guys like Paul Heyman, who I've met, and Matt Hardy, who I've met. So many names who I can mention who have inspired me”.

He added:
“The WWE will be the dream; however, I wanna go in there with a big splash. I don't wanna go in there and be thrown in the shallow end of the pool. I wanna be thrown in the deep end, and trust me when I say it, I'll swim.”
Ospreay revealed that he wanted to follow a path similar to his idol, AJ Styles en route to the WWE. He said:
“That's exactly what I wanna do. Man, he's my hero. He's the sole reason I got into professional wrestling.”
Earlier this year, Will Ospreay became the youngest and the first ever British wrestler to win the Best of the Super Juniors tournament. One particular match during the tournament involving Ospreay and Ricochet drew praise from all quarters, especially from the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, William Regal and even Chris Jericho.
The former ROH Television World Champion said that he felt really cool about being appreciated by people who are his heroes. He said,
“It's weird when you get guys like Stone Cold doing it, and guys like William Regal coming up to you. Guys like Chris Jericho talking about it, Seth Rollins.”
Further talking about the match and the response, Ospreay added:
“Yeah, there's some things that they would change, but other than that it was one of the most insane matches they've ever seen. And I was like, 'Aw! That's cool!' Those are my heroes, the guys I watched on TV once upon a time.”
