Women's World Champion Liv Morgan gets pinned by 12-year veteran after SmackDown goes off the air

Liv Morgan had a hot start to her reign as Women's World Champion, and at SummerSlam, she picked up the biggest win of her career. After SmackDown went off the air, she was shockingly pinned by a 12-year veteran.

The post-SmackDown dark match this week was scheduled to be Liv Morgan vs. Kairi Sane, somebody who has been wrestling since 2012 and someone many consider among the best wrestlers in the world.

Dominik Mysterio's interference proved too much, so Braun Strowman came out. Following that, an odd pair tag team was formed as Kairi Sane and Braun Strowman faced Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan.

In the post-SmackDown dark match, Kairi Sane jumped from Strowman's shoulders to hit the Women's World Champion with a frog splash. She pinned Morgan in a stunning upset:

It will be interesting to see if this translates to Monday Night RAW. Kairi Sane hasn't gotten a proper push since returning last year, although she has enjoyed regular TV time with Damage CTRL.

Damage CTRL is being presented as potential babyfaces in a feud against Sonya Deville, Zoey Stark, and Shayna Baszler. So Kairi could step up to the plate.

That said, the Rhea Ripley story isn't over for Morgan yet.
