Wrestler who survived cancer is shot in robbery attempt; details released
A wrestler who was away from the ring for a year thanks to cancer has now been shot during a robbery attempt.
BLK Jeez was the victim of an attempted carjacking, during the process of which he was unfortunately shot.
The NWA star had been away from the ring for a long time, last wrestling in February 2023. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, which is a form of blood cancer, back then. He was able to survive cancer, but this is yet another setback for the star.
NWA released a statement that on January 11, at approximately 7 PM, the wrestler was in his car when he was approached by four masked men. They attempted to steal his car, during which one of them shot him in the hip. This resulted in a non-fatal injury. Jeez had the permit to carry his own gun and returned fire at the masked men. This led to the men fleeing the scene. Jeez was then taken to the hospital to recover.
The wrestler was set to return at the January 13 event NWA Paranoia, but the shooting means that this will be delayed further. Jeez also spoke out about the incident and thanked everyone for their support.
"I was looking forward to making my return this weekend. I would love to make the trip regardless of the soreness and pain that I'm in. However, my gut tells me to stay home with my family this weekend. I look forward to making my return at the next NWA event. Thank you to everyone for your continued support."
We wish BLK Jeez a swift and successful recovery.
