Wrestling legend lauds WWE for unpredictable ending with The Bloodline on SmackDown (Exclusive)
Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell recently spoke about The Bloodline winning the WWE Tag Team Championships on SmackDown. The faction made an impact this week on the blue brand.
Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu were in the main event of SmackDown against current titleholders #DIY. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa fought hard but the numbers game caught up to them. Finally, the Samoan Werewolf ended the contest with an Impact DDT to win the gold.
This week on the Smack Talk podcast, Mantell detailed that it was a good idea to have the title change hands in the main event. He felt that the match had fans hooked on to the show and guess what would happen. The veteran detailed that most fans would have been surprised by The Bloodline winning the tag titles at the end.
"I thought the main event was, they told a good story. The story transcends that match. You know you're watching a good show when that show flows by quickly." Mantell continued, "They had that title on the line at the end. Something told me, a little birdie told me, we're gonna see a right here tonight. And it's good for TV. You watch it all the way till the end. They're kinda getting unpredictable for most fans. I don't think most fans thought that was gonna happen but it did and it's good." [27:08 onwards]
After winning the titles, Tonga and Fatu bestowed the gold on Solo Sikoa, cementing him as the leader of the group.
It will be interesting to see if Solo can pick up a win at SummerSlam this week when he goes up against Cody Rhodes in a Bloodline rules match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
