Wrestling legend recalls Eric Bischoff's 30-day ultimatum before almost being fired - "This is where I want to be" (Exclusive)
Veteran wrestler Buff Bagwell recently spoke about an on-screen angle with Eric Bischoff during his time in WCW. He was a popular star coming up the ranks of the promotion back in the late '90s.
Bagwell made a name for himself in the tag team division, winning the World Tag Team Championships five times. He then joined the nWo to become an even bigger star. He had memorable feuds with Scottie Riggs, Goldberg, DDP, and Lex Luger. The veteran wrestler was among the stars WWE signed after WCW shut down.
During an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Buff mentioned that Eric Bischoff's ultimatum got the ball rolling. He explained that nWo had some exceptionally talented stars in its ranks and felt this was his chance to shine with them. He felt it was a simple decision that changed his career:
"That night that Eric Bischoff said, 'You got 30 days to come to nWo or you're gonna be fired. When he said that, Scottie was trying to talk me out of that. But I gotta be honest, when I got into the ring and I saw all that talent, I was overwhelmed, man. This is where I want to be. This is where Buff Bagwell belongs." [From 3:03 onwards]
Buff Bagwell's YouTube channel shares stories from his 34-year wrestling career, offering behind-the-scenes insights, personal struggles, and the journey that shaped him into the icon he is today.
