Wrestling veteran calls for revamped WWE tag team division; claims War Raiders could lead the charge (Exclusive)
The War Raiders are finally back on WWE television. The duo of Erik and Ivar made their stunning return on the October 14 episode of Monday Night RAW.
The specialty of the return was that the announcers introduced them with their old team name, the "War Raiders." They faced Alpha Academy in a number one contender's tournament for the World Tag Team Championship. Erik and Ivar dismantled their opponents, advancing to the next round comfortably.
This week on The Wrestling Time Machine, Bill Apter was glad to see the tandem back in action. He mentioned that their presence on the roster could lead to a resurgence of WWE's tag team division. The veteran journalist was also happy that the creative team rebranded them and got rid of the Viking gimmick.
"Well, to be honest with you, now that they're repackaged again, they both look really intense. Without the Viking schtick, the fans now are gonna take them a lot more seriously. I want to see the one thing that's missing in WWE, a steady tag team division. I want to see the WWE build up a tag team division. These guys could, at the beginning, at least go to the top." The New Day and the team of Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee also won their respective matches in the number one contender's tournament.
These two teams will collide with The War Raiders in a triple-threat tag team encounter to finally decide the number one contenders for the World Tag Team Championship.
