Wrestling veteran comes out in support of Jey Uso after severe criticism from former WWE stafferÂ
Wrestling veteran Konnan recently spoke about Vince Russo criticizing Jey Uso's promo on RAW. Jey defeated Bron Breakker to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career.
The week after winning the IC title, Jey Uso opened RAW and cut a heartfelt promo. He recalled his journey as a tag team wrestler moving to a singles career. Jey choked up and got emotional about the win. However, former WWE writer Vince Russo was not impressed and commented that the title was just a "prop" and there was nothing to get emotional about.
On a recent episode of Keepin' It 100 OFFICIAL, Konnan claimed that Russo was wrong and Jey's promo was great. He pointed out that the former Bloodline member had won his first singles title in over a decade, and it was naturally an emotional moment for him. Konnan claimed WWE hadn't utilized Jey well over the last year, and the victory was a huge surprise for the whole family.
"That's actually very good TV." Konnan continued, "For a guy to break character and get emotional like him, that's the first singles title in 16 years. He's probably thinking I may never get a singles title. The last year they weren't doing sh*t with him. Nobody thought they were gonna take it off Bron Breakker that quick." [From 5:30 - 5:52]
Jey Uso is currently feuding with Bron Breakker
Very few fans believed that Jey Uso would dethrone Bron Breakker when the two stars faced each other on RAW during the September 23 episode.
The star brought his A-game and managed to come out on top. Since then, Bron seemed to have gained some respect for his opponent. The following week, he walked out to congratulate Jey on the win. However, this was just a trap as the former Intercontinental Champion attacked Uso the week after.
This past week on RAW, Jey Uso got in some retaliation as he hit a devastating Spear on Breakker after the latter was beating down The New Day after a singles win over Kofi Kingston.
It will be interesting to see when these two stars collide once again to settle their differences once and for all.
