Wrestling veteran convinced Bronson Reed has former Royal Rumble winner's role on WWE RAW
Bronson Reed disrupted arguably WWE's hottest feud on RAW in the wake of a successful SummerSlam Premium Live Event. The sight of Reed hitting the Tsunami on Seth Rollins six times evoked a massive pop from the crowd in Baltimore.
While this could be a breakout program for the Australian, Vince Russo is convinced WWE will drop the ball on him once his feud with Seth Rollins is over. Russo drew comparisons to how Triple H and the creative team handled Shinsuke Nakamura when they booked the latter against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes between September 2023 and early February 2024.
Vince Russo articulated the writing on the wall through his lens on X/Twitter, stating that WWE knows it has to hold off CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins for a big stage, so the former World Heavyweight Champion's program with Bronson Reed is just filler:
"Seth needed an opponent before he gets to Punk. The WWE rolled out the EXACT Nakamura "I know about your back" Playbook, with Bronson Reed. Reed is an opponent for Seth---that's all. At the end of the Day Rollins gets over, and Reed goes back to obscurity---just like Nakamura did. That's my issue. A Good Writer gets EVERYBODY over---win, lose, or draw. Understand?" Russo wrote.
There was a lot of speculation on social media in February 2024 that creative had planned for Bronson Reed to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship in Reed's home country of Australia at Elimination Chamber: Perth. The Aussie penned a note before the event, responding to what transpired. Now the spotlight is on both men and their budding storyline.
Bronson Reed explains his actions on WWE RAW; Seth Rollins needed emergency care
Just when it looked as though Seth Rollins and CM Punk were ready to lock horns, Drew McIntyre distracted Punk and the latter rolled out of the ring to chase the Scotsman, leaving Rollins alone in the ring.
With no prior hints, creative threw a curveball by having Bronson Reed go after The Visionary.
Seth Rollins was coughing blood by the end of the segment and was rushed to the hospital. During a backstage exclusive, Bronson Reed elaborated on why he viciously assaulted the former World Heavyweight Champion:
"Tonight, I did what I had to do. I crushed one of WWE’s golden boys. I hit Tsunami after Tsunami after Tsunami on [Seth] Rollins to show you all that I am not here to play around. The killer is unleashed and Bronson Reed is at the very top of this business."
Whether Seth Rollins vs. Bronson Reed gets booked for Bash in Berlin on August 31 bears watching.
