Wrestling veteran discusses exceptional circumstances that could lead to Cody Rhodes turning heel (Exclusive)
Veteran wrestling journalist and Sportskeeda Wrestling's Senior Editor, Bill Apter recently spoke about Cody Rhodes' title reign. The star defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Rhodes is arguably the top babyface in the Stamford-based promotion, a status he has maintained since his return to the company in 2022. However, fans and veterans have speculated if the WWE Universe will ever see a heel turn from Cody during his current stint with the global juggernaut.
This week on Smack Talk, Bill Apter stated that Roman could be a babyface for a while. However, the seasoned journalist detailed that things could become volatile if Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes renewed their rivalry again. He predicted that the next time the two superstars meet, the dynamics could be different and The American Nightmare could be the heel while Reigns maintains his babyface status.
"I think he's [Roman Reigns] gonna go babyface for a while. But then again, if they put him against Cody to try and get the title back, that could change things. Or, that's when the American Nightmare goes heel and shocks everybody," said Apter. [From 20:41]
While a chance encounter with Roman may be on the horizon, Cody Rhodes now has to deal with the threat of Solo Sikoa and his Bloodline.
The American Nightmare will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship next week on SmackDown's season premiere on the USA Network against Solo Sikoa in a Steel Cage Match.
